Within a ministry that runs twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, there arises a need for a group of people committed to labor through the night hours. The NightWatch covers the hours of midnight to 6:00am and is a critical part of the night-and-day reality—more than simply completing a twenty-four-hour cycle, it is a response to the inexhaustible greatness of God.
Because of the lifestyle changes the NightWatch schedule requires, a unique company of intercessors has emerged within our community. These intercessors, singers, and musicians have rearranged their whole lives in order to bring strength to the prayer room in the night hours.
The NightWatch mandate is found in Psalm 134:
“Behold, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who by night stand in the house of the LORD! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD. The LORD who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!”
